Al Akhawayn School of Ifrane

Located halfway between the great imperial cities of Meknes and Fes, the Al Akhawayn School is located in the Middle Atlas Mountain region of northern Morocco in the city of Ifrane. Famed as both a summer and winter resort, the area is one of the least densely populated regions of Morocco and is considered an area of outstanding natural beauty with a unique biodiversity.

The school is an integral part of the prestigious Al Akhawayn University, a globally oriented, student centered, English-language curriculum based on the North American system and accredited by the prestigious New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), with an education adapted to the needs and challenges of the 21st century.

The school mirrors these values and accordingly many of the University faculty’s children attend the school though the school is open to the general public. The teaching faculty stem from both international and Moroccan origins.

The school, like the University, utilises a North American pedagogy and yet strives to maintain a Moroccan cultural identity, characterized by its natural openness originating from the rich diverse melting pot of Middle Eastern, European, north and sub-Saharan Africa influences. Our approach is holistic, the arts and the science holding equal value and while academic achievement is important to us, it is not at the expense of the ecological awareness, physical, spiritual, social and emotional aspects of human growth.
