  • Create learning situations where skills, content, and tasks are relevant, realistic, and authentic
  • Promote active learning and inquiry

  • Use inclusive strategies so that all learners can demonstrate achievement of the grade-level curriculum.

Establishing a Culture for Learning

  • Promote student voice in the classroom
  • Develop and maintain a learning-focused classroom
  • Implement ‘restorative practice’ strategies to encourage positive relationships

Curriculum Design

  • Demonstrate a high level of relevant curriculum knowledge
  • Create written daily, unit, and yearly instructional plans
  • Base planning and assessment on the learning goals of the curriculum
  • Contribute to the whole school curriculum and monitoring processes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan curriculum delivery

Assessment and Record-Keeping

  • Assess learners as required by examination bodies and school procedures
  • Prepare and present informative reports to parents and other stakeholders

Promoting and participating in learning communities and professional development

  • Engage in personal learning and professional development
  • Actively engage in the Teacher Performance Evaluation System (TPES)
  • Display a passion for teaching and learning by sharing ideas and taking calculated risks to innovate
  • Seek feedback from others to improve learning and teaching strategies
  • Attend and constructively participate in all meetings as scheduled.

AST Teacher Qualifications Desired

  • Minimum of BA degree from an accredited university
  • Educator Certification / Teaching Credential
  • Classroom experience in an international setting is preferred
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills. Naturally collaborative.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills; is detail-oriented; demonstrates a strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
