Job Title: Assistant Teacher

Job Summary: The Assistant Teacher works alongside the lead teacher to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for the children. This role involves assisting with daily activities, supporting children’s development, and fostering positive relationships with students and families. The Assistant Teacher collaborates with the lead teacher to implement age-appropriate curriculum, engage children in learning experiences, and ensure their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Classroom Support:
   • Assist the lead teacher in setting up and organizing the classroom environment, including arranging furniture, materials, and learning centers.
   • Participate in planning and preparing developmentally appropriate activities, lessons, and learning experiences for young children.
   • Support transitions between activities, routines, and daily schedules to maintain a smooth and structured learning environment.
2. Child Development and Learning:
   • Engage with children individually and in small groups to support their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
   • Encourage exploration, creativity, and curiosity through hands-on experiences, play-based learning, and sensory activities.
   • Provide scaffolding and assistance to help children develop self-help skills, independence, and problem-solving abilities.
3. Positive Guidance and Behavior Management:
   • Model positive behavior and social skills for children, and reinforce expectations for behavior and interaction in the classroom.
   • Implement positive guidance techniques and strategies to promote self-regulation, conflict resolution, and cooperation among children.
   • Communicate with children in a supportive and encouraging manner, and provide redirection and support as needed to address challenging behaviors.
4. Parent and Family Engagement:
   • Build positive relationships with families and caregivers by communicating regularly, sharing information about children’s progress and activities, and soliciting feedback and input.
   • Welcome parents into the classroom and encourage their involvement in school activities, events, and volunteer opportunities.
   • Collaborate with families to support children’s individual needs, interests, and cultural backgrounds.
5. Health and Safety:
   • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for children by following health and safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations.
   • Supervise children during outdoor play, meals, rest time, and other daily routines to ensure their well-being and safety.
   • Monitor and respond promptly to any accidents, injuries, illnesses, or emergencies that may occur in the classroom.
