Position Overview
Casablanca American School (CAS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Long-Term Substitute Teacher to teach International Baccalaureate (IB) Environmental Systems and Societies and Biology at the Upper School level. The successful candidate will ensure instructional continuity and provide targeted academic support to students completing critical IB assessment components.

Teaching Assignment

• IB Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS):

1. Two (2) sections – IB Year 2
2. One (1) section – IB Year 1

• Grade 10 Biology: Two (2) sections

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with IB Environmental Systems and Societies and Grade 10 Biology curricula
• Guide IB Year 2 students to complete their Internal Assessments (IA) in accordance with IB requirements and school timelines
• Prepare IB Environmental Systems and Societies Year 2 students for the April IB examinations, including content review, exam skills, and assessment strategies
• Support IB Year 1 students in building foundational skills aligned with IB expectations
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, actionable feedback
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment data, and student performance
• Collaborate with department colleagues, counselors, and administrators to support student learning
• Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and school leadership
• Uphold Casablanca American School’s mission, values, and professional expectations

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience teaching IB Environmental Systems and Societies, including IA supervision and exam preparation
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a closely related field (Master’s preferred)
• High proficiency in English (spoken and written)
• Experience teaching secondary-level science (Grades 9–12)
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to quickly establish rapport with students
• Ability to step into an established IB program and maintain instructional continuity

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching IB Environmental Systems and Societies Year 1 and Year 2
• Prior experience in an international school setting
• Familiarity with IB assessment criteria, moderation processes, and exam command terms
