The ALC Marrakesh employs full-time native speakers of English from abroad as well as full-time and part-time Moroccan teachers.
- Minimum University Qualifications: Native speakers must have a bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate (CELTA preferred). Teachers with a master’s in TESOL are preferred.
- Age: The ALC is the first to recognize the value and talent of older teachers, but the Moroccan Ministry of Labor will not issue a work permit to non-Moroccans aged 60 or older, which means we cannot offer positions to teachers 59 and older.
- Nationality: Applicants must be native speakers from countries where English is an official language
- Teaching experience: Teachers should have a minimum of two years, full-time classroom experience, preferably in the EFL classroom.
- Experience living abroad and the ability to adapt to Moroccan culture: Morocco has many wonderful aspects, but it can be a challenging place to live as well. We want visiting teachers to be content in their new surroundings so that they can give their best in class.
Period of Employment
ALC Marrakesh usually offers contracts running from October until the end of June. These contracts generally require of teachers a commitment of 20 to 25 contact per week during the main terms.
Work is mainly English teaching in the classroom, but may include participation in extra-curricular activities.
Most teaching takes place in the evenings, on Saturday mornings and afternoons, and Sunday mornings. Teachers new to Morocco are asked to arrive in the country in mid-September (generally, around the 15th) to get settled and participate in an orientation for two weeks before teaching actually begins (usually around the 3rd of October).
How to Apply
A job application to ALC Marrakech should include the following:
- A CV/resume
- Cover letter
- A short video (5 +/- minutes) demonstrating a typical activity you use (students do not need to be present; the video can be just the teacher).
- The lesson plan for the class session that would include the segment shown in the video
We usually interview teachers in spring for positions opening the following fall. The best time to apply is in late winter and early spring.
Only selected applicants will be contacted for an interview. Interviews are conducted in person at the ALC or on Skype.
