Part time MS French Teacher

Position Summary
The American School of Tangier is seeking a dynamic, student-centered French Teacher to join our Middle School faculty on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and rigorous French language instruction to students in Grades 6–8, fostering linguistic proficiency, cultural awareness, and a love for theFrench language. This role supports the school’s mission to provide a high-quality American-style education within an international, multicultural environment in Morocco.
Key Responsibilities:
● Plan and deliver French lessons aligned with the American School of Tangier curriculum standards and best practices in world language education (approximately 60% teaching load).
● Develop and implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of middle school students (ages 11–14).
● Focus on developing the four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with strong emphasis on communicative competence.
● Integrate French-speaking cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues into the curriculum to promote intercultural understanding.
● Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
● Collaborate with the World Languages team and other middle school faculty to support cross-curricular initiatives and school-wide events.
● Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school community activities as required by the part-time contract.
● Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom and school environment.
● Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Qualifications & Requirements
● Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in French, French Literature, Education, or a closely related field.
● Certification: Valid teaching certification/license in French or World Languages (or equivalent).
● Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of successful teaching experience at the middle school level (Grades 6–8 preferred). Experience in international or American-curriculum schools is a strong advantage.
● Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in French (C1–C2 level) and strong proficiency in English (the language of instruction and communication at the school).
Additional Skills:
○ Demonstrated ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons.
○ Familiarity with differentiated instruction, project-based learning, and
technology integration (e.g., Google Workspace, language learning apps).
○ Cultural sensitivity and experience working in diverse, international settings.
○ Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
○ Passion for teaching adolescents and supporting their holistic development.
