Position Overview:
Casablanca American School is seeking a maternity substitute Spanish Teacher to instruct 9th and 10th-grade Spanish as well as IB Spanish Ab initio from January through April. The substitute will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of language instruction and supporting students in their Spanish language development. The ideal candidate will be experienced in delivering engaging Spanish lessons and familiar with IB program standards, especially for Ab initio.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Delivery: Implement lesson plans and deliver Spanish language lessons for 9th, 10th, and IB Ab Initio students, ensuring continuity of instruction and student engagement.
Curriculum Adherence: Follow the existing curriculum materials, ensuring alignment with CAS and IB standards. Adapt and enhance lesson plans as needed for student comprehension and success.
Assessment: Conduct assessments in line with CAS grading policies and IB requirements, providing timely and constructive feedback to support student learning.
Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment that supports language learning and cultural understanding.
Student Support: Offer extra support as necessary, addressing individual student needs and ensuring a seamless transition during the regular teacher’s absence.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field.
Certification: Valid teaching certification; experience with IB curriculum preferred.
Experience: At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably including experience in an international setting. Familiarity with IB Spanish Ab Initio is an asset.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in Spanish and English is required; knowledge of French or Arabic is a plus.
